Prescribed Fire Class in Lower Brule, SD

SDSU Extension and its partners will host a prescribed fire class and live fire training on April 8, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Lower Brule Wildlife Office.

This multi-partner fire school and training event is hosted by the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe in partnership with the River Breaks Prescribed Burn Association. The day will feature a morning classroom session for all landowners and managers interested in learning more about prescribed burning. The afternoon session will focus on skills, fire tools, safety, and equipment and will feature live fire training and participation in actual prescribed fire. Students can expect to receive instruction in all phases of prescribed burning through hands-on, instructor-led practices.

Free and open to all. River Breaks Prescribed Fire members and potential future members are especially encouraged to attend.
