Weed management, virtual fencing, and variety trials are just some of the topics that will be covered during the 2025 slate of Research Station Field Days presented by the South Dakota State University College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences. Events will be happening at locations across the state from June to mid-September, with each one focusing on local topics of interest.

“South Dakota is unique in the Midwest for how varied the different regions of the state are, especially when it comes to what types of production agriculture thrive in those areas,” said John Blanton, Associate Dean of Research for the college and Director of the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Stations. “Each of our Research Field Stations is set up to represent its location within South Dakota and what type of farming is happening in that region. We take pride in conducting research that applies to the local areas and considering what farmers in those areas are interested in and could benefit from.”

Each field day will feature guided tours showcasing the work being conducted at the research field station and the information will be presented by university and SDSU Extension researchers and staff. More details about individual field days can be found below.

While there is no cost to attend the field days, registration is highly recommended in order to get accurate counts for food and resource materials. Registration for each field day is linked below. Visit the SDSU Agricultural Experiment Station website for more information and registration as it becomes available.
