The West River Soil Health School will be hosted at Dry Creek Farm and Ranch near Caputa, SD. This operation is owned and operated by SD Soil Health Coalition Board Member Shawn Freeland and his wife, Kristy. They run a diversified crop and livestock operation following the five principles of soil health to regenerate the land while providing for their family.
The West River Soil Health School is designed for agricultural producers as well as anyone with an interest in learning how to manage soils for resiliency and profit. The agenda will feature classroom style presentations from producers and technical experts from across the state and region, as well as hands-on experiences in the field. Area producers will also share their challenges and successes with various methods for improving soil health.
Participants are responsible for their own lodging. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Baymont By Wyndham Rapid City (4040 Cheyenne Blvd., Rapid City, SD 57703) for $119 per night. Contact the hotel at (605) 503-6104 to make your reservations.
