Earn More for Your Acres!
Introduction
Want to begin or expand a conservation practice on your operation to reduce erosion, improve soil health, and more? The Soil and Water Outcomes Fund provides financial incentives for the environmental outcomes that result from on-farm conservation. Since 2020, we’ve enrolled over 540,000 acres and paid over $17.5 million to participating farmers. And as part of the Iowa Soybean Association, you can be sure our program puts the interests of our farmers first.
Our program offers incentives for implementing new or expanding on-farm conservation practices that produce positive environmental outcomes, such as reduced tillage, cover crop implementation, extended crop rotations, and more. Farmers enrolled in our program earned an average of $33 per acre in 2023. Eligible farmland enrollment areas have expanded for 2024. The Details
The Soil and Water Outcomes Fund aims to provide a simple and transparent process. A few key points that set our program apart are:
- As part of Iowa Soybean Association, we answer to farmers.
- Farmer contracts have one-year terms. The decision to re-enroll in subsequent years lies with you.
- A payment offer is provided prior to contract signing.
- Once a contract is signed, payments are made in two installments: 50% is paid prior to verification, and 50% is paid afterward.
- The final payment is guaranteed to farmers as long as they implement the conservation practices outlined in the contract.
- There is no acreage minimum or maximum required for enrollment; we are designed to scale at the rate you want to.
- Our field rep team is available for technical and agronomic support throughout your time in the program.
- As an independent program, we don’t require farmers to have any other type of customer relationship with us.
Who’s Eligible?
To qualify for enrollment with SWOF:
- You must be a farmer or landowner with decision making power over productive row crop fields and practices
- Your field must be in an eligible county. A map of eligible geographical locations is available on our website.
- You must be willing to adopt at least one new conservation practice.
- Your field must be HEL and Wetlands compliant.
- You must create an account through our website to enter past and proposed practice information and field boundaries.
Can SWOF be stacked with other Programs?
***The Soil and Water Outcomes Fund is funded by a number of private and public partners. Sometimes, dual enrollment with another program is possible. However, this is dependent on the specifics of each program. Please also note that dual participation is at the field level, not the farm level. If you are considering other program opportunities, please contact your field program representative to ensure compatibility.
