Introduction
Bird Conservancy of the Rockies currently has a Wildlife Habitat Biologist position based in Sturgis. We work in partnership with USDA-NRCS and SD Game, Fish and Parks to deliver habitat programs to producers and can offer wildlife habitats enhancement technical assistance. We also have support from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation for addition habitat dollars to assist in ranch health and funding for outreach support (e.g., workshops, booklets, events, tours…).

The Details
Bird Conservancy of the Rockies currently has a Wildlife Habitat Biologist position based in Sturgis. We work in partnership with USDA-NRCS and SD Game, Fish and Parks to deliver habitat programs to producers and can offer wildlife habitats enhancement technical assistance. We also have support from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation for addition habitat dollars to assist in ranch health and funding for outreach support (e.g., workshops, booklets, events, tours…).
Our biologist can assist producers with technical and financial assistance for Farm Bill Programs and guidance on numerous other partner programs for additional funding as needed. We also work with the community on outreach opportunities and disseminate manuals and pocket guides.
Who’s Eligible?
Landowners in parts of western South Dakota may apply.
Funding can cover expenses such as fence (can include virtual fence and temporary fencing), water infrastructure, native seed. Once expenses are incurred and implemented, landowners will be reimbursed after providing receipts.
For land already enrolled in a FB program compliance checks will not need to be duplicated.
